Damp and timber reports and surveys carried out by fully qualified independent damp surveyors
We are a damp and timber treatment company. We cover most of the UK for damp and timber surveys and provide damp and timber reports for mortgage purposes.
If you’re buying a house, selling a property or renting one out, dampserve can help.
We are fully independent and all our surveys are carried out fully independently. What is an independent damp and timber survey? A survey that is carried out by an independent damp and timber surveyor means that the surveyor has no vested interest in recommending treatment. Most damp and timber treatment contractors will recommend damp proof treatment or rising damp treatment to cover their costs. To be fully independent, you should have nobody above you telling you what to do.
There are a lot of independent damp and timber surveyors out there claiming to be fully independent when they are full members of the Property Care Association PCA. The PCA are a business and not a governing body. They teach and tell their surveyors to recommend rising damp treatment no matter what. Most houses in the UK don’t require a new chemical damp proof course and will still have a working one in situ. Please do your research on the PCA rising damp scam.
All our surveyors are fully qualified and have many years of experience in correctly diagnosing dampness. Pick up the phone and ask us some questions and you’ll realise that we know exactly what we are talking about unlike these rising damp salesmen working for damp proofing companies.
We are also experts in wood-boring insects (woodworm). We will correctly diagnose your woodworm problem and tell you if it’s active or not. Did you know that some woodworm don’t even need chemical treatment? This is why you need a woodworm survey carried out to find out if the woodworm infestation is active or not.
We also treat and eradicate dry rot and wet rot. Dry rot is misdiagnosed daily and the cost to treat dry rot is about 5 times more expensive than treating wet rot. Wet rot is a localized issue and dry rot can find its source of moisture from the other side of a room. This is why you need a dry rot survey carried out by a dry rot treatment specialist. Our dry rot specialist will correctly diagnose the timber rot and recommend the correct dry rot treatment necessary.
Dampserve has been carrying out surveys for over 30 years now and treated thousands of properties across the UK. All chemical treatment will come with a long term guarantee and this guarantee is transferable when you come to sell the property.

We correctly diagnose the issue before we recommend any type of damp proofing or rising damp treatment. We don’t just say it’s rising damp like all these damp proof treatment contractors looking to make easy money. We will recommend the correct damp treatment necessary to fix your damp problem.
PRE PURCHASE DAMP AND TIMBER SURVEY AND REPORT
Pre purchase damp and timber survey and report. Are you in the process of buying a property, re-mortgaging your home or trying to get equity release? So you and the vendor have now agreed on a price for the property. The mortgage lender wants to send out their specialist independent surveyor to conduct a valuation survey. Once you’ve received their valuation report, you’ll then find out that you need a specialist damp and timber survey carried out. They normally state that they picked up “rising damp” to the ground floor walls.
- Specialist pre purchase damp and timber report
- Damp survey
- Timber survey
- Dampness report
- Dry rot report
- Pre purchase damp and timber survey
The report that you will receive from their chartered independent surveyor will be very brief and straightforward. It will not say what the damp issues are or how to rectify them. The bank surveyor will not know what type of woodworm he has picked up and if it needs treatment. All it will read is, that damp readings were picked up, please instruct a specialist damp and timber treatment contractor to inspect for dampness and check the condition of any timbers in contact with damp walls.
Our specialist timber and damp report that you’ll receive from our company will be more detailed with all our damp surveyors findings and recommendations. This will be accepted by your bank, building society, or mortgage lender for the condition of your offer.
DAMP PROOFING AND RISING DAMP SPECIALISTS
We are specialists in rising damp diagnosis and damp proof treatment. We correctly diagnose damp problems and don’t just say it’s rising damp like most damp proof treatment contractors. Our damp surveyors don’t just recommend installing a chemical damp proof course to make money, like a lot of other damp proofing companies. We find out if your damp problem is rising damp or not. The first thing you need to know is that rising dampness in buildings is very rare. Most properties in the UK will have a physical damp proof course in place and it will still be doing its job.
This is why we tell all our clients that the most important part of getting rid a damp in walls starts with getting the correct diagnosis. You can install a new damp proof course and replaster but if the main source of moisture hasn’t been fixed then the damp will come back.
- Does your home have rising damp?
- Do you have a wet wall?
- Do you have staining on your walls?
Free rising damp survey… this might sound good, but in the long run, a free damp survey can end up costing you thousands of pounds on unnecessary treatments. No one in this world works for free, so how do these companies make money? By selling you a product such as a chemical damp proof course. When we carry out a survey we don’t look for work, we look to correctly diagnose the damp problem. We charge a small fee for our surveys. If there is nothing wrong with the property, our surveyors will state that in the report.
If treatment is necessary, our survey fee will always be deducted from the final invoice if the treatment is carried out by our company. This will give you peace of mind when buying a property, selling a property, renting a property or looking to get a damp problem fixed in your own home.
The most common cause of damp in a home is condensation. Condensation can occur when a property has insufficient ventilation. Condensation will fill the property and black mould will start to appear in corners, behind furniture, on cold outside walls, and on any other cold surface.
